Fans of Dimension 20 have an exciting new way to dive into their favorite actual play series. Earlier today, Webtoon unveiled a collaboration with Dropout’s Dimension 20 show to launch a comic series inspired by the mash-up setting of Dungeons & Dragons and John Hughes movies known as Fantasy High.
Fantasy High is where it all began for the Dimension 20 crew, back when they first embarked on their epic journeys. It stands out as the longest-running world in the series, with three full seasons and a number of spinoff adventures. Imagine a place where tieflings and goblins endure the trials of high school, elves deal with unfortunate hair days, and crystals double as smartphones for group chats. While Webtoon kept the creative minds behind the new series under wraps, they did share a tantalizing glimpse into the plot of this comic, simply called Fantasy High.
Here’s what we know: Fantasy High chronicles a band of misfit teenagers as they face the intense drama of high school life, layered with the dangers of a magical world. When students mysteriously vanish from their school, our quirky heroes unite to unearth an ominous scheme, embarking on an adventure that blends intrigue, humor, and genuine emotion.
It seems likely that Webtoon’s series will be an adaptation of the first season of Fantasy High. This season saw the freshman fighters Kristen Applebees, Gorgug Thistlespring, Fabian Seacaster, Riz Gukgak, Adaine Abernant, and Fig Faeth unravel a dark conspiracy while searching for seven missing girls from their peculiar school, Aguefort Adventuring Academy. Notably, Webtoon has confirmed the series will span a set 61 episodes.
According to their press release, Webtoon plans to debut the Fantasy High comic this spring. As a tantalizing teaser, they’ve also shared a sneak peek of the promotional image that accompanies this exciting announcement.
