Ever since Forza Horizon 5 was confirmed for the PS5, it feels like the floodgates have opened for Xbox games finding their way onto Sony’s platform. Whispers have been circulating for a while now that Marcus Fenix might soon be battling the Locust Horde on PlayStation consoles. The latest buzz? It looks like the first three Gears of War games are being bundled into a collection set to release for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
### Gears of War Collection: First Three Games Coming to PS5
According to well-informed leaker eXtas1s, a Gears of War collection is indeed in the works. Although they aren’t certain about when it’ll be announced, they are confident that it will be available across multiple platforms from day one. Moreover, it appears the collection will support cross-play, enabling gamers on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation to join forces and play together.
“I’ve dug deep to verify the existence of the Gears Collection,” eXtas1s explained in a translated statement shared by ResetEra’s Rychu, “and while I can’t say exactly when it will be announced, I’m certain it will launch as a multiplatform title from day one. When these kinds of remasters come out, old Gears games should allow for seamless cross-platform play. The one thing that’s still unclear is whether a Switch version is in the works, but cross-platform play will definitely be available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumblings of Gears of War hitting the PS5. Just recently, Jez Corden from Windows Central hinted that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition could make its way to Sony’s console by 2025.
As with all rumors and speculation, it’s best to stay cautiously optimistic. Although many insiders are echoing similar sentiments, game development can be unpredictable, and plans often change. Until we get an official announcement, keep your expectations in check and keep your fingers crossed.
