Spacepunk Survival, crafted by Nejcraft and Tavern Tale Studio, brings multiplayer horde shooter action to your Nintendo Switch. Dive into our review of this adrenaline-filled game!
In Spacepunk Survival, players find themselves navigating the perilous Iapetus Station. Once a hub of scientific discovery, this station is now teeming with hostile alien creatures. Your mission? Survive as long as possible. But brace yourself: survival isn’t a guarantee, and death is an expected part of your journey. Embrace it, as defeating every alien isn’t feasible. To access the online multiplayer experience, make sure you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription ready.
Navigating this immersive first-person shooter is intuitive: control your character’s movement with the left analog stick while using the right stick to scout your surroundings and hone your aim. Dash by pressing the left stick, leap with the B button, and unleash melee attacks with the right stick. When you’re facing those relentless alien threats, aim using the ZL button and fire with ZR. Don’t forget to reload by pressing Y.
The essence of Spacepunk Survival lies in its straightforward gameplay loop. Dispatch alien foes to unlock successive waves, earning in-game currency to buy upgraded weapons and perks. Venture through various rooms to discover new armaments, each differing in damage output, magazine capacity, and reload speed.
Want a survival edge? Stock up on useful perks! The Captain perk cuts shop prices and boosts both your movement and assist speeds. It also enhances damage and reload pace as your teammates fall. Gunslinger reduces reload times and doubles the damage of your initial attack on an enemy. The Marksman perk strengthens each successive hit on the same target. With Scavenger, you earn more cash from headshots, enjoy increased health points, and heal more rapidly.
Spacepunk Survival challenges players in a dark, alien-infested setting, but does it deliver on its premise? While the core concept is tantalizing, certain elements hinder the experience. The framerate struggles, and noticeable pop-in issues mar your field of view. Enemies exploit blind spots, often overwhelming players with lethal efficiency. These obstacles cripple the online multiplayer mode, effectively relegating players to solo endeavors. Although priced at $9.99 on the Nintendo eShop, these issues diminish its appeal.
