It looks like a movie adaptation of the newly launched game, Split Fiction, is on the horizon. According to Variety, the production company Story Kitchen is taking the reins, assembling a talented cast, writers, and a director for the project. This team has previously worked on adapting Hazelight’s earlier hit, It Takes Two, for Amazon, as well as overseeing adaptations of Toejam and Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
Hollywood studios are reportedly lining up with offers, eager to bring this project to life.
Split Fiction itself hit the shelves in March and made waves by selling a million copies in just the first 48 hours. By the end of its first week, the game had reached two million sales. Hazelight shared their excitement on Bluesky, exclaiming, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing,” as they celebrated this remarkable achievement. They also extended their gratitude to both their new and longtime fans, expressing love for the enthusiasm surrounding their game.
In terms of their previous work, the film adaptation of It Takes Two will feature none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the talented writers behind Sonic the Hedgehog, handling the script. The gaming world is certainly buzzing with anticipation for what’s in store!
