We’re always working to enhance your PS5 experience, and today we’re thrilled to reveal two exciting additions inspired by your feedback: the new audio focus feature and the revival of classic console designs for the PS5 user interface.
The global rollout for this PS5 system update kicks off on April 24, and will be implemented in phases.
Let’s dive into the new features:
Audio Focus
Ever wanted your gameplay audio to sound just right? Audio focus is here to deepen your immersion by offering presets that boost softer sounds according to your preferences. Set to enhance your audio experience, this feature ensures you catch every detail when you plug in your headphones or a headset—especially useful when chatting or engaging in intense games.
Once you’ve activated audio focus, you’ll have an array of preset options that let you fine-tune how you hear certain sounds, like character dialogue, delicate sounds such as footsteps, or even party chat voices for a more lifelike experience.
– Turning this feature on is easy: head over to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volume] > [Audio Focus]. You can also tweak these settings mid-game from the Control Center for convenience.
– Choose from four preset options tailored for various sound boosts:
- Boost Low Pitch: Pump up the volume on low frequencies, like engine roars or rumbling effects.
- Boost Voices: Enhance middle frequencies to make voice chats and character dialogue come through clearer.
- Boost High Pitch: Crank up high frequencies for sharper sounds like footsteps or metal clinks.
- Boost Quiet Sounds: Highlight low-volume sounds across a broad range of frequencies.
– You can set each preset’s level of enhancement to Weak, Medium, or Strong, depending on your preference.
– Customize further by adjusting the level for left/right channels independently.
– Note that this feature works when using headphones connected via USB or analog jack, but not for HDMI-connected devices like TVs, AV receivers, or soundbars.
