As soon as Nintendo announced the release date for the Switch 2, they had to hit pause on pre-orders in the U.S. and Canada, all thanks to some tariff issues stirred up by Donald Trump. Fortunately, Trump decided to delay those tariffs until after the launch, and Nintendo has now set a date for North American fans to grab their consoles before the scalpers beat them to it.
Mark your calendars because on April 24, 2025, retail pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will officially open. And here’s a bit of relief: the pricing won’t surprise you. The standalone Switch 2 will be priced at $449.99, while the bundle that includes Mario Kart World will go for $499.99.
Additionally, the launch prices for both Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are holding steady, with digital and physical copies of Mario Kart World priced at $79.99, and Donkey Kong Bananza at $69.99.
However, it’s not all smooth sailing. Prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 accessories have been adjusted “due to changes in market conditions” after the initial announcement on April 2nd. There could be further changes down the road, depending on how things play out in the market. You can stay updated by checking out www.nintendo.com for all the latest product and pricing info.
While this kind of uncertainty isn’t new, the current situation in the U.S. makes price changes more likely. Still, it’s a relief to finally have a date set to rush for the Switch 2. To increase your chances against the scalpers next Thursday, don’t forget to register for preorders at Nintendo.com if you’re eligible.
