Pragmata garnered an impressive 466 votes, outshining some big contenders like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which all seem poised for release soon. This isn’t just a flash in the pan either—ever since its debut in 2020, Pragmata has been a regular favorite in Famitsu’s reader polls, often landing in the top rankings. In fact, you’d have to flip back to the September 2023 issue to find a time it didn’t make it into the top 10 most anticipated games.

Despite the buzz, the numbers don’t tell the whole story. We’ve only gotten glimpses of Pragmata over the past five years through sporadic cinematics and snippets of gameplay. It’s puzzling what exactly has piqued Famitsu readers’ interest so much. For me personally, the initial reveal stirred some curiosity, but its rocky past made it fade into the “we’ll see” category, much like Capcom’s elusive Deep Down—which remains a fascinating concept that never materialized.

At this point, most of what we know about Pragmata is derived from Capcom’s marketing briefs. They paint it as “an all-new action-adventure game set in a near-future dystopian lunar landscape,” promising a story and setting rich with nuance. Similar descriptions can be found in listings on PlayStation and Xbox stores.

In their words, the development team expressed remorse over yet another delay, stating, “Our team is currently hard at work making the best game that we possibly can, but we need more time. We will continue to do our best to ensure that the final product is one that is worthy of your patience.”
