Vampire Survivors isn’t letting up any time soon, with an exciting update sharing a wealth of new content on the horizon.
These days, it’s quite a feat for indie games to break into the spotlight and achieve outstanding success, but Vampire Survivors has done just that. Since its official release in 2022, the game has seen numerous updates, including a thrilling Castlevania crossover. Now, in a new post on Steam, developer poncle details what’s in store for the future. For starters, cross-save functionality is on the horizon for “all platforms,” possibly arriving with the next content patch, version 1.13. Poncle is optimistic about this feature but stopped short of giving an absolute assurance. They’re also aiming to introduce online co-op this year, though that’s still up in the air.
Additionally, poncle discussed their ongoing venture to create a live-action film in collaboration with Story Kitchen. They emphasized the importance of finding the right partners, noting, “as mentioned last year, rather than rushing to produce something for the sake of it, we’ve preferred to wait to find partners that felt right. This is especially crucial because adapting VS into something outside the realm of videogames requires solid ideas, creativity, and in-depth game knowledge—a daunting combination to perfect.” They also hinted at revealing other “cross-media” projects they’ve been brewing, though details remain sparse.
When it comes to updates, poncle plans to focus on free content this year. These updates might be larger, albeit less frequent. “More Adventures are coming,” they explain, highlighting plans to expand on Tides of the Foscari. An Adventure for Ode to Castlevania is also being considered, with ideas to make it stand out from typical expansions. While paid DLC isn’t off the table entirely, poncle acknowledges the challenge of delivering as much content as the Castlevania expansion achieved within the same or lower price range, and in a reasonable timeframe.
To top it all off, the update concluded with another exciting hint. The team teased that they have some non-Vampire-Survivors but distinctly poncle projects to discuss this year. They encouraged fans to stay tuned, promising that “2025 is shaping up to be our biggest, most chaotic, and surprising year yet!” It seems we’ll just have to wait and see what surprises they have in store!
