Exciting times for PlayStation enthusiasts and fans of vibrant, colorful adventures! Last night, Astro Bot clinched the coveted Game of the Year award at the BAFTAs, outshining impressive titles like Helldivers 2 and Balatro.
And that wasn’t all—Astro Bot didn’t just nab one award. Alongside the top honor, it also scooped up awards for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This incredible run follows its Game of the Year success at last year’s The Game Awards, where it, once again, triumphed over some serious competition in an exceptionally strong 2024 lineup.
As the award was accepted, the spotlight fell on Nicolas Doucet from the team, who delivered a heartfelt speech dedicated to his colleagues in Japan. “A massive thank you to everyone back in Japan,” he shared. “They poured their hearts into crafting this game day by day, with love and care, not for accolades but simply to bring joy to people’s lives.”
Doucet continued, expressing gratitude toward specific team members, the game’s composer, the entire PlayStation family, and all partners featured in Astro Bot. He didn’t forget to thank the BAFTA academy and extended heartfelt appreciation to the developers’ families and the game creators who have paved the way for their work.
