John Gonzalez, the mastermind behind the narrative of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian. He recently shared this exciting news on LinkedIn, clarifying, however, that he’s not involved in a potential Fallout: New Vegas sequel. Gonzalez’s initial stint at Obsidian spanned from 2008 to 2011, following a noteworthy tenure of over two years with Ubisoft in Shanghai.
After leaving the team behind New Vegas, Gonzalez’s journey took him to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. Here, he poured his creative talents into the role of lead narrative designer for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, dedicating two and a half years to the project. His trail then led to the Netherlands, where he lent his storytelling prowess to Guerrilla Games for Horizon: Zero Dawn as the narrative director. Before returning to Obsidian, he also spent nearly three years shaping stories at Smilegate’s Barcelona studio.
Beyond the world of game development, Gonzalez is also venturing into literary territory. Fans can look forward to his upcoming novel, “God Mode: Single Player,” set to hit the shelves in 2025, offering yet another medium to experience his storytelling genius.
