Last week, Sony stirred up excitement by announcing a PS5 remaster for Days Gone. However, there’s a slight hiccup for those who own the game via PS Plus.
Some time ago, Days Gone was part of the monthly games lineup on PS Plus—Sony’s subscription service that generously offers free games every month. If you were savvy enough to snag it back then, it’s probably sitting in your library right now. So, the recent announcement about the PS5 remaster of Days Gone must have been pretty thrilling, especially since PS4 version owners can upgrade for just $10. But here’s the catch: this upgrade is only for those who purchased the game outright, whether a physical or digital copy, and it excludes those who got it through PS Plus.
According to Bend Studio’s small print in their announcement, the upgrade path restricts eligibility to those who paid for the game, specifically noting “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” This seems puzzling since many players might have happily handed over $10 for such an upgrade. Perhaps Sony anticipates higher profits from newcomers purchasing the complete remaster instead.
Bend Studio tweeted a reminder about the offer: any player who bought the game on PS4 can upgrade to the remaster, featuring all-new content, for $10.
Days Gone launched on the PS4 back in 2019 and received a lukewarm response from critics, though it still managed respectable sales. Still, hopes for a sequel were dashed when Bend Studio confirmed last year that it won’t be happening. A movie adaptation was teased in 2022, but details have been sparse, so this remaster could very well be the last we hear of this title for some time.
Get ready, because Days Gone Remastered drops on April 25 for PS5 and PC.
