The seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring, crafted by the skilled modder Yui, has taken the community by storm, and now, Yui is turning their attention to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware’s approach to online multiplayer is an intriguing one. On the one hand, it offers a slight ease in overcoming the game’s challenges—as they say, two silent protagonists dodge-rolling towards victory is better than one. However, the design often complicates straightforward multiplayer sessions with friends. That’s where Yui comes in. Known for the popular seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring and a similar modification for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Yui is now developing a seamless co-op mod tailored for Dark Souls 3.
Yui recently posted a video showcasing the mod in action. The footage features a cooperative journey through Lothric Castle—consider this a spoiler alert for those who’ve yet to embark on this game’s adventure but intend to dive in soon. According to the video’s description, this mod eliminates all multiplayer restrictions, allowing friends to play together seamlessly from the tutorial all the way through to the game’s finale. The mod ensures progress is synchronized without the inconvenience of resummoning or interruptions. Plus, invasions remain optional but active by default, with opportunities to adjust enemy scaling to your preferences. It’s precisely the kind of enhancement fans dream of.
As of now, there’s no set release date for this mod, so patience is key. In the meantime, Elden Ring’s new installment, Nightreign, is expected to drop this year. Excitingly, it comes with built-in seamless co-op, though its lasting appeal will depend largely on its nature as a boss-centric roguelite.
