Have you ever wanted to choose what Like a Dragon/Yakuza memorabilia gets created for the series’ 20th anniversary? Well, now you have the chance!
RGG Studio is not one to do things halfway. Every project is done with a grand vision in mind. To celebrate the iconic series’ milestone, they’ve launched a website where fans can vote on a variety of eccentric items from the games to be turned into official merchandise. And when I say eccentric, I’m not kidding. Ever dreamt of owning that one unique cup from an oden bar? Cast your vote and it might just become real merch! No joke! Or maybe you’re in the market for a stamp bearing Kazuma Kiryu’s likeness, perhaps from his Infinite Wealth era? Or how about an actual safe? All of it is within the realm of possibility, provided it earns enough votes.
The item that garners the most votes is the one that will be transformed into merchandise, with plans to hit the market within two years. So, you’ll need a bit of patience to snag whatever wins out (especially since voting extends until March 21). I personally think the Majima body pillow has a solid shot at leading the pack, but Yakuza fans are so wonderfully unpredictable that it might end up being something as left-field as a tambourine. With a selection of 100 items, nearly anything could become reality.
You can express your preference more than once, but only once per day. Plus, you have the option to share why you’ve picked your favorite. Just tread lightly when explaining the body pillow choice! As for my own favorites, there are quite a few I believe deserve to exist, like a Like a Dragon-inspired board game and a striking sound keychain. Here’s hoping some of these fan favorites come to fruition!
