Minisforum recently unveiled a selection of cutting-edge products powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen technology, showcasing a blend of versatility and performance in their new MoTD and Mini PC configurations with the Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU.
Two Exciting New Offerings:
At the recent "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum introduced its advanced lineup which utilizes AMD Ryzen CPUs. This exciting range includes MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and sleek NAS systems.
Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard – A Desktop Builder’s Dream:
First up, we have the Minisforum “F1FGM,” which continues the MoTD series legacy powered by AMD’s latest processor. It’s designed as a compact mATX motherboard featuring comprehensive heatsinks over the VRMs, M.2 slots, and the chipset. Building on the success of the BD770i and BD790i series, which were equipped with Ryzen 7000HX chips, this iteration introduces the formidable Ryzen 9000HX series.
The MoTD is a powerhouse, capable of being configured with the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, boasting 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 5 architecture. With a boost clock speed hitting up to 5.4 GHz and a hefty 64 MB of L3 cache, this chip is geared for performance. Rated at a default 55W, it can be fine-tuned up to 160W on this motherboard, delivering top-tier capabilities.
For those who desire even more options, the board also offers configurations featuring an “X3D” option. Cooling is no afterthought either; the setup includes a vapor chamber baseplate due to the absence of an IHS on these mobile CPUs. Power delivery is handled with a robust 13-Phase Duet rail design, utilizing 60A SPS power stages.
The motherboard comes equipped with four DDR5 DIMM slots, offering capacities of up to 256 GB, supporting speedy operations up to 8000 MHz. At its core, the chipset is the mobile-centric X870M, resembling the B850 series closely. Two PCIe slots (one 5.0 x16 and another 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots are available, with one slot rated for Gen5x4 speeds. Additional connectivity includes two SATA III ports and modern interfaces like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WiFi7. Onboard, you’ll also find two BIOS DEBUG LEDs, ensuring comprehensive setup diagnostics.
Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC – Compact Power:
Moreover, the Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC, designed with Ryzen 9000HX CPUs, builds on the MS-A1 series legacy. With the integration of Fire Range CPUs, these Mini PCs are not just about compact design but full of advanced IO solutions. It boasts three M.2 slots (one supporting U.2), 10 GbE LAN with an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot adaptable for low-profile cards.
Unlike the MoTD variant, this Mini PC’s motherboard features two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of RAM at speeds reaching 5200 MT/s. The IO configuration includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one USB 2.0, and dual 10 GbE LAN ports, accompanied by modern Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and options for DP + HDMI outputs.
Minisforum N5 PRO – Power in NAS Systems:
Completing the lineup is the N5 PRO NAS, supercharged with Strix power and an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, featuring 12 cores and 24 threads, plus a Radeon 890M integrated GPU. Offering flexibility with five 3.5-inch drive bays and a toolless design, it’s designed for high-capacity storage with RAID configurations.
Each bay accommodates up to 22 TB of storage, and further M.2 expansion is available via three PCIe 4.0 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). Connectivity is ensured with a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE port, alongside interface ports delivered through three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to launch these innovative solutions soon, so keep an eye out for updates!
