In Monster Hunter Wilds, herbivore carapaces play a crucial role in crafting high-level equipment. These materials can be obtained by hunting specific smaller monsters, and you’ll start encountering them as rewards once you hit High Rank. In contrast, at Low Rank, you’ll be looking for what’s known as herbivore shells.
These carapaces are essential for crafting top-tier armor, like the Death Stench set and the High Rank Doshaguma Mail. If you’re on the quest to gather these materials, you’re in luck—our guide is here to show you exactly how to collect herbivore carapaces efficiently.
When you’re in Monster Hunter Wilds and eager to track down herbivore carapaces, you need to target High Rank Ceratonoths. These creatures are your sole source, but fortunately, your chances are good. There’s a 70% likelihood you’ll obtain a carapace each time you carve up one of these beasts.
To find Ceratonoths, head over to the Windward Plains. They are quite common in this area. Utilize your in-game map and apply the icon filter to spot them quickly—whether male or female, it doesn’t affect your odds. Set your waypoint, and off you go on your Seikret to hunt them down efficiently.
Bear in mind, though, that unfortunately, there aren’t any specific hunts that guarantee herbivore carapaces as rewards, and you won’t find them dropping from any large monsters either. So, your best bet is to focus on the plentiful Ceratonoths in their native habitat.
