The indie gaming scene has seen an exciting development with the launch of a new publishing label by the folks behind the Pantaloon newsletter. Taking a leap from their roots as a resource for indie game developers, Pantaloon now dives into the world of publishing with two intriguing projects already on their roster: the narrative-driven Sub-Verge and the engaging Solitaire game, Occlude. Not just a newsletter anymore, they’ve gathered a community of nearly 30,000 subscribers who are eagerly following their journey.
Jamin Smith, the brain behind this venture, acknowledges, “Sure, the indie world might not be screaming for yet another publisher.” However, Pantaloon’s approach sets them apart, fueled by a unique ethos. With their established platform, they’re dedicated to offering developers fresh opportunities and a sense of security. What truly sets them apart is their willingness to embrace the unconventional. They’re on the lookout for games that dare to explore new territories, breaking the mold of their genres.
“Our motto, ‘A home for misfits,’” Smith explains, “isn’t just a catchy phrase. It’s an invitation. We’re all about finding those quirky, experimental titles that might not fit the usual publishing molds.”
As a side note, it’s worth mentioning that Alex Calvin, a freelance writer and photographer, has collaborated with Pantaloon in the past.
