To craft weapons like the Bone Smasher or gear such as the Rathian Greaves, you’ll need dragonbone relics. These are essential components in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Our guide is here to help you track down these elusive dragonbone relics and master the art of collecting them efficiently.
### Locating Dragonbone Relics in Monster Hunter Wilds
Dragonbone relics are found in bonepiles scattered throughout the game. You can stumble upon them in various locations such as Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, Iceshard Cliffs, and the Ruins of Wyveria—basically, every region the game has to offer.
On your map, look for the yellow icon indicating bonepiles. To do this, open your map and toggle right on the D-pad twice. You’ll need to navigate through the filter to locate bonepiles, using the left and right buttons on the D-pad to explore your options. Once you’ve found a bonepile, set it as your waypoint for easy guidance.
Each bonepile can yield up to three items before it’s depleted, but don’t worry—they refresh approximately every 15 minutes, giving you plenty of chances to gather what you need.
### Tips for Collecting Extra Resources from Bonepiles
In Monster Hunter Wilds, your equipment like armors, talismans, and decorations come with various skills. A particularly useful one for gathering is the Geologist skill, which grants you an extra item every time you interact with a bonepile.
Several pieces of equipment can provide you with the Geologist skill. These include the Geology Charm talisman, Chainmail armor, and Geology Jewel decorations. Importantly, for bonepile collection, you only need the first level of this skill—no need to max it out.
It’s crucial to note that the Geologist skill won’t increase the number of times you can loot from a bonepile in one visit; it’s capped at three. However, it does ensure that each time you hit the Circle/B button, you retrieve more items.
