Most of us have experienced the frustration that comes with mobile gaming—that incessant barrage of in-game ads that seem almost inescapable. With the freemium model reigning supreme when it comes to mobile game releases, we’re often subjected to ads that come with misleading countdowns, finicky ‘X’ buttons that fail to actually close anything, and deceptive interactions aimed at tricking us into accidentally navigating to the app store. Valve, however, is taking a firm stance against this on the PC platform. They’ve made it crystal clear: any tactics like this in their PC store will be met with a swift and decisive ban. – John Walker.
